[TL;DR]
- map3protocol implements a Web3-based system similar to Pokémon GO's PokéStops, connecting games with physical stores. Users receive increased store discounts as they level up in games, while store visits contribute to game progression.
- The 'HideMePlease' app enables NFT usage as membership cards for store discounts, 'map3' provides game integration, and V2E offers token rewards for store visits.
- The ecosystem currently encompasses over 100 F&B partners and 15,300 users, establishing a sustainable Web3 ecosystem by converting token rewards into tangible store benefits.
map3protocol Overview
map3Protocol is a groundbreaking protocol bridging Web3 technology with the physical world. Under the slogan "We Bring Web3 to Real Life," it transforms NFTs into practical memberships, seamlessly integrating online and offline experiences.
Core Services:
- 'HideMePlease' App: Enables users to register NFTs as membership cards for accessing benefits at partner locations worldwide. The platform currently serves over 15,300 users across 100+ F&B partners, facilitating cryptocurrency payments and real-time member activity tracking.
- 'map3' System: Provides a mapping service for exploring Web3 activities in the physical world. It tracks Web3 community locations, analyzes user patterns for personalized experiences, and integrates blockchain games with real-world interactions.
- Visit to Earn (V2E): Users can mine tokens through NFC tag verification at partner locations, earning not only token rewards but also exclusive game items and special benefits.
map3Protocol focuses on two key objectives: strengthening Web3-physical world connectivity and ensuring sustainability of token reward models. With the mission "Bringing Web3 to Life, One Map at a Time," it leads the way in Web3 popularization and practical implementation."
Web3 based Real-World Map
Hello, I'm Hyun Yu, the developer of map3 protocol - a system that integrates offline locations with gaming experiences. Before delving into our service details, I'd like to share my background story to provide better context.
A decade ago, I worked as a software developer during a time when the industry offered far less favorable conditions than today. Long overtime hours were the norm, and I observed many senior colleagues choosing early retirement in their early-to-mid 40s if they hadn't reached executive positions. Most of them transitioned into small business ownership, typically opening chicken restaurants or Korean BBQ establishments. Witnessing this reality, I made the bold decision to resign and venture into entrepreneurship, concerned about my long-term career prospects.
As evidenced by the photos of my previous establishments, I successfully expanded my business portfolio to include seven distinct brands - starting with a churros shop and growing to encompass an Italian restaurant, pizzeria, bakery café, döner kebab shop, and a Korean pub. However, over time, I realized I was engaged in mere 'trading' rather than building the scalable 'business' I had envisioned. While I explored various strategies to scale this brick-and-mortar business model, franchising seemed to be the only viable option for expansion.
One day, I witnessed an intriguing phenomenon at my café - every customer was intensely focused on their smartphones. Upon inquiring with a regular patron, I learned they were playing 'Pokémon GO'. Initially, I dismissed it as just another popular game, until I discovered the concept of 'PokéStops' - in-game item shops integrated into real-world locations.
These PokéStops distributed free in-game items called Pokéballs, and my café had serendipitously been designated as one such location. This resulted in a significant surge in both foot traffic and revenue. While the increased sales were certainly welcome, what truly captivated me was the revolutionary concept of connecting gaming experiences with physical retail spaces. This revelation became the catalyst for my determination to develop a similar system.
During my technical research to implement this integration system, I identified Web3 technology as the ideal solution due to its superior interconnectivity capabilities. The concept of linking games with physical locations naturally led to the term 'map', inspiring our project name 'Map3' - representing our Web3-based mapping system."
Our system operates on a dual-incentive model: as players progress in games, they unlock higher discount rates at physical locations, while conversely, purchases at affiliated establishments contribute to in-game level progression. We've developed two primary platforms to facilitate this integration.
First, the 'HideMePlease' app enables users to access discounts and benefits at partner establishments. All offline transaction data is recorded in real-time on the 'Map3' website, enabling seamless integration with Web3 games to implement the interactive system I described earlier.
The SAV token, our Visit to Earn (V2E) economic model, circulates through these two platforms. The 'HideMePlease' app supports integration with various cryptocurrency wallets including MetaMask, Phantom, and Binance Wallet, allowing users to utilize their NFTs as membership cards. The user interface is straightforward - pressing the 'Benefits' button displays nearby partner establishments sorted by distance, and users can activate discount benefits by engaging the benefit button when visiting these locations.
While this project didn't begin with ambitious problem-solving goals, our journey has revealed several significant opportunities where we can make meaningful impact. Firstly, there's a notable scarcity of companies providing practical Web3 services for everyday consumers. We identified a blue ocean opportunity in integrating Web3 technology with offline businesses, enabling us to expand your project's ecosystem into the physical realm.
Furthermore, Web3's core concept of 'ownership' fundamentally translates to delivering economic value to users. We can provide sustainability and stability to projects utilizing token-based reward systems. A recent meeting with the Seongdong District Mayor highlighted an illustrative case: Their youth support program, which provides monthly cash allowances of 100,000 won, wasn't achieving its intended local economic stimulus because the funds were being spent outside the district, affecting fiscal health. Upon reviewing our app, the Mayor suggested that a district-specific membership system could more effectively convert cash-based welfare into benefit-based welfare, restricting benefits to local establishments.
This challenge extends beyond Seongdong District - it's a common concern across all token-reward models in the Web3 space. Our solution involves substituting token rewards with tangible benefits and discounts at affiliated offline establishments, addressing the sustainability issue faced by many token-based systems."
As evidenced by Axie Infinity's case, the depreciation of token value often leads to the collapse of the entire service. It's truly unfortunate to see promising projects terminate their services due to inability to maintain token value, regardless of their dedication and effort. We believe we're actively working toward solving this critical challenge.
While today's presentation offered just a brief overview, I am deeply committed to implementing this system successfully. I look forward to meeting with each of you individually to discuss further opportunities for collaboration. Your support and engagement would be invaluable in bringing this system to fruition. Thank you for your time and attention.
